Empowering Moms to Pray
By Heather R. Riggleman & Julie Sanders
Do you find yourself tempted to eavesdrop on words shared between friends? What if they were talking about how to make prayer a meaningful part of life as a mom? This is your invitation to lean in close and listen to the conversation when one thirty-something says to a forty-something, “Let’s talk about prayer.”
Motherhood has a way of bringing us to our knees. A shared passion for prayer brought two moms from different decades and backgrounds together to talk about making prayer work in the trenches of family life. Your prayer life might be barely breathing, just getting started or thirsting for more, but you’re welcome to bring your cup to the table and join us. In Let’s Talk About Prayer you’ll find answers moms need to know and tools to grow.
- How do we tap into the power of prayer when life works against us?
- How should I order my life so I can pray?
- How do I tackle praying about so many things?
- How do I find the right words to pray?
- How do I help my family by praying?
Are these questions you’re asking? Would you like to know how to cultivate a prayerful life in chaos? Would you like to manage the mountain of prayer needs and find the right words to pray with confidence? Would you like to pray to impact your family? Join the conversation.

I’m so excited to be included in this edition of Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Multitasking Mom’s Survival Guide
You’ll find my story on page 118 in this new collection that will inspire and entertain multitaskers with 101 stories from busy moms like me.
Moms juggle kids, husbands, jobs, housework, and more. Words of wisdom, lessons learned, funny moments and stories of juggling success will brighten any mother’s day. My story was inspired by a day our family will never forget. It took a while for enough time to pass, but now I can honestly laugh at the memory and give thanks for the lessons learned.
This Chicken Soup for the Soul fits well with my talk about “Accidents Happen” for moms needing to juggle the unexpected.

Fear. It’s one of the biggest struggles of a woman’s heart. Especially moms! But we don’t have t ~ A story-style devotional book uniquely written with reflective questions that can encourage a mom individually, as well as conversation prompts when used in a mentor/mentee relationship.
I am honored to be a contributor to this FREE book offered by The MOM Initiative team. Facing Our Fears serves as a wonderful mentoring tool. Churches, MOPS groups, MOMS International groups, other organizations and ministries are using this FREE resource as a 6 week study to nurture mentoring relationships and take Titus 2 to the streets. Please let us know if you are using it as a mentor resource. We’d love to share your stories on The MOM Initiative website.
Overwhelmed. It’s where most moms live. Somewhere between the mounting piles of laundry, overflowing kitchen sink, doctor’s appointments, soccer practice and the pot of spaghetti on the stove, there is a mom who is at her wit’s end.
Perhaps that’s you, sweet mom. Wishing your load was lighter, yet knowing you wouldn’t change it for the world. Wishing someone would shoulder the load for just a few short hours, long enough to get a much needed, uninterrupted nap…long enough to come up for air and catch your breath.
Overwhelmed is our gift to you in the trenches of motherhood and feeling weary. As part of The MOM Initiative team, I am a contributor to this devotional and glad to offer it to you. Each story has been shared to help you find comfort in the fact that you are not alone-to help you discover courage to press on-and to offer perspective and wisdom to help you find joy in the journey-to see hope beyond overwhelmed.
